I'm a backend engineer based in Toronto with a focus on distributed systems, API design, and building software that operates reliably at scale.

Most recently at AWS, I was a founding engineer on a 4-person team that built a host provisioning platform from scratch - a backend service adopted by 5 AWS products, running across 38 regions and supporting ~200K hosts at peak. The work spanned API design, event-driven architecture, encryption, and cross-functional delivery.

Before AWS, I built backend services for a Medicaid eligibility system serving 1.6M+ citizens at Deloitte, where I learned to navigate complex systems, debug deep, and ship carefully.

I'm currently looking for my next role - ideally somewhere with hard problems, strong engineering culture, and room to grow.

  • Founding engineer on a 4-person team that built a Host Provisioning Service from scratch, adopted by 5 AWS services across 38 regions, supporting ~200K hosts at peak scale and eliminating the need for ~25 dedicated engineers across customer teams (~$5–6M/year in avoided headcount).
  • Designed and built CRUD APIs for compute, networking, and storage resources (EC2, EBS, VPC, ENI), backed by an event-driven orchestration system using DynamoDB Streams, Step Functions, and Lambda.
  • Reduced host provisioning latency by ~57% by building efficient systems to eliminate cold-start bottlenecks and implementing exponential backoff retry logic to handle throttling.
  • Owned end-to-end design and implementation of customer-managed key (CMK) encryption for hosted volumes, consulted with AWS KMS and security teams, completed security review, and enabled customer teams to serve government and enterprise clients.
  • Extended the Host Creation API with snapshot-based recovery, allowing customer services to restore hosts from prior state and improving system resilience across failure scenarios.
  • Led the service launch into AWS GovCloud as the sole engineer responsible for all code changes, cross-functional coordination, and compliance adaptations for regulated environments.
  • Onboarded an 18-person team as the founding engineer, creating documentation, running knowledge transfer sessions, and supporting first on-call rotations to enable a zero-impact production handover.
